This is a handy web app for K12 students. Students, and even parents and tutors, are looking for right tools to read classic literature in more convenient and efficient. This app, free and online, is one of options. It integrates some great modern elements, such as change font-size, font-color, and back-ground. It also offers handy features to help readers check dictionary online, write notes, and share notes on separate devices.

We collect lots of great classic literature in this app, and will add new ones periodically. You don't need book, don't need notebook, don't need dictionary. An online computer, tablet, or mobile is enough to start!

Key Features

Because there are lots of books available in the app, it offers a Book Selector to pick up book quicker and easier in book list page. Just input part of book name or author name, click search buttons, you would see books matching with the criteria.

In each book page, a Chapter Selector lists all available chapters or sections with a Refresh button, which is a short-cut to switch among chapters.

Double click on word may bring up a note panel, in which you can write note for this word or related items. At this panel, you can also try to pronounce the word or phrase, and lookup its definitions from Internet. You can't enjoy such wonderful features when reading a paper book.

The quick note panel may not work in 2 cases:
1. the feature isn't checked yet;
2. the clicked words are too simple, like "a", "is", etc.

In book page there are 4 buttons:

Books

It brings to book list page to select other books.

Notes

It shows all notes of current book.

At right side of book page, you can see a note lists for current chapter/section where you can update/delete existing notes, or add new note.

Color

It opens a setting panel to adjust font size, font color, and back color.

Sync

This feature is based on www.enk12.com's cloud service. You can push all notes of current book to cloud, or pull the notes from cloud to current device. You can also clean notes of local device. Push, pull, or clean will void original data of object device, so you should do it very carefully.

www.enk12.com's cloud service is an optional feature. You need register by an email to get an access code before actually signing on. The service is free.

Generic Information

Elementary Grammar Exercise is a free online resource to study and practice primary grammar knowledge. It includes thousands of quizzes to cover main English grammar topics. All exercises are organized into five groups: Parts of Speech, Parts of Sentence, Verb, Tense, and Others. Each group consists of some categories. For example, Tense includes 4 common tenses, present, past, perfect, and future tense. We still maintain and add new categories and quizzes periodically.

This is a large exercise bank, covering core contents of English grammar and having hundreds of exercise sets. Students who leverage this resource had better work under the guide of tutors, parents, or any others with enough knowledge and experience to teach English grammar.

Key Features

In main menu, if you click a group, like Parts of Speech, then select a category, like Adverb, you will see exercise sets of particular grammar topic. In general, there are 10 quizzes in every exercise set. The question may be filling in, single selection, or multiple selection. You can try to answer them online and check the answer at the same web page. This is a handy tool to enhance grammar knowledge for English starters, either K12 students or ESL (English as second language) students.

Each exercise set has 2 parts: question panel and answer sheet. In general, question panel tells the fundamental materials and requirements of the current set, like what the common prerequisite is and how to answer the questions, and possibly offers sample answers. In some cases, it also shows involved knowledge to guide the exercises. The real quizzes are in answer sheet where you may answer with the specified way.

There are some buttons in question panel and answer sheet.

Check Answer

It shows whether your answer is right or wrong in answer sheet. If you don't answer yet, it shows blank. You can turn on or off this feature on demand.

Show Answer

This button will display right answers of current set. Notice that the feature works only if your mark is more than 60%. Namely, you at least offers 6 correct answers before you see right answers of 4 failed quizzes. This design is to encourage you try your best.

Show Comments  Hide Comments

We may provide involved knowledge or explanation in some set. These comments are supposed to help students understand and answer quizzes in current set. They aren't necessary to complete the exercises. You can show or hide by case.

Generic Information

Want to write like masters? This app offers a window to research how great writers to use 100 common words. If you think your writing isn't good enough, or say you need stronger confidence or skill, learn and follow quotes from classic literature is a short-cut to enhance or improve both of them.

This app has a built-in list of 100 words. We may add more in future. You should select one word at first, then specify the author and book. Waiting for one second, you will see quotes in classics for current word. Here you can see the sentence and its chapter, book, and author. If you want to know the context, just click one button "Reading", the whole chapter or even book is available. It's a wonderful tool to sharpen your writing skill.

Key Features

The quotes are searched by word at first. If there are too many results to show in one page, it will add author and book as criteria automatically. In reverse, if there is no enough quotes to fill in a full page exactly matching with criteria, the app will smartly ignore book or author to retrieve quotes. The normal quote is displayed in green; if the quote is by separate author from author selector, it is in blue.

This app has three selectors.

Word Selector

It offers a list of 100 common words. We may add more in next release. You should select one word to start search. After the current word is changed, the author and book will be reset.

Author Selector

After the word is selected, the first author who has quote to use this word will be picked up automatically, usually the name starts with "A". The other authors who also have quotes will be listed in the selector. So you can select them on demand.

In a few cases you cannot see author selector, because the quote number of current word is less than 20 and all quotes are shown in same page. Extra search is unnecessary.

Book Selector

Some authors have multiple books in our classic literature bank. If you select one of them, for example Charles Dickens, a book selector will occur just follow the author selector. Books that have the quotes of current word will be listed there for your further searching.

Generic Information

Dolch sight words are frequently used English words compiled by Edward William Dolch. It’s a very common word list for English starters. This small vocabulary covers 50% to 75% of all words used in school books, library books, normal newspapers, and magazines. Therefore, it is also a famous word list to be assigned for memorization in American elementary schools. Tutors and parents likely use this list to check kids' vocabulary level.

In this app, 300+ Dolch words are categorized into 5 groups:

Pre-primer: 4 lists, each has 15 words (60 words in total)

ACT Vocabulary Flashcards is for test takers to prepare ACT vocabulary, It has a 2000 built-in word list and is organized under alphabet order. You can scan and skip known words quickly and pick up new words to make flashcards by just one click. Unlike paper cards, these e-cards have extra merits: including example and pronouncing; and having 20 non-English definitions as option to add.

The app basically is driven by letter selector. In letter selector, 26 letters are listed. Select one letter of your working, you will see a words panel of starting with the selected letter. A panel can host 60 words. If the letter's words are less than 60, like H, all words show together. If the letter has more than 60 words, these words have to be displayed on multiple pages. For example, words starting with S take 4 pages to show.

Simply speaking, by letter selector (and specified page if necessary), you can see a panel with at most 60 words. Then you can pick up words here to make flashcards and start to learn and review.

Key Features

Click any word in words panel, its definition will pop up. If you Select it, this word's flashcard will be produced and attached below the panel. You may create all 60 words' flashcards in this way. But actually you don't do that, because more or less you should know some of them. Even if all of them are new to you, we remind that 10 to 12 new words are the most efficient number to study concurrently in normal cases.

The flashcard always includes word and pronunciation. In addition, you can choose if it shows explanation and example. If you are ESL student, you can also decide if to append definition of your native language.
